"Getting close to tender places allowed me to get close to my heart, and what I found was not only pain but also courage and creativity."
- Dr. Hillary McBride

ABOUT
I was raised outside of Baltimore, MD and moved to Charleston in 2007 to begin my undergraduate studies at the College of Charleston. I graduated with two Bachelor’s degrees from the Honors College in Sociology and Religious Studies. Before pursuing my Master’s in Psychology at The Citadel, I was the founder and executive director of a grassroots non-profit that focused on asset based community development in the Eastside neighborhood of downtown Charleston. It was during this time that I discovered my passion for intertwining psychology with lived experience, by focusing on people’s individual stories. I have been practicing therapy in a clinical setting since 2018, and launched my private practice in 2020. I am a National Board Certified Counselor, am trained in EMDR and am in the process of completing training to become a Gottman Certified therapist for couples.
In my free time I love cuddling with my two black cats (Gretchen & Slinky), running or walking with friends, reading and making my husband try new recipes.
